How to Start a Garden!
There are so many reasons to love gardening! Maybe you're starting a succulent garden, a vegetable garden, or just planting flowers to decorate your home. Whichever you choose, there are a few basic steps to start you off on the right track. Here are some tips and tricks to creating the perfect space for all plants.
#1- Choose the Perfect Spot!
Every plant needs lots and lots of sunlight. But some need more than others, depending on what plant, or vegetable you’re trying to grow. Regular plants and flowers will do perfectly indoors and outdoors--just make sure they have a nice big window to stay by. Most vegetables need full, direct sunlight, at a minimum of five hours per day. They would grow best in an outdoor garden bed.
#2- Set Up Your Gardening Space
A very important part of gardening is making sure you have prepared the small, but effective things, for your garden. Make sure you have the correct soil, seeds, and tools for your set up. If you are building a garden bed then its important to understand the differences between different types, styles, and sizes, and pick the one that is best for you!
#3- Tend to Your Plant’s Needs
Different plants come with different responsibilities. Not only does the plant you choose change how and where you plant it, but it also affects how you treat it. Some plants require lots of attention and care, while others can be very low maintenance. If you are up for the challenge, try caring for a miniature rose, or even a Bonsai tree. But if you’d rather enjoy your plant without taking time out of your day, plants including Aloe, or a Moth orchid may be perfect for your lifestyle!
#4- Prepare Your Soil
If you are interested in investing your time into a vegetable garden, finding the right soil is important. If you have trouble figuring out which is best for you, the internet is your best bet and will give you the help you need. One way to enrich your soil is by using compost. Compost will maintain the soil structure--plus it will help retain water and essential nutrients.
#5- Have Fun!
Gardening isn't a school assignment or a competition, it's just for you and is sure to make your day more enjoyable. If you hope to build a vegetable garden, don't worry. It will all be worth the time and waiting when you see your vegetables fully grown! Hopefully, this helps you with your gardening journey and puts a smile on your face. Now get outside and start your gardening adventure!
